After purchasing a pin vise from our tools section customers often enquire how to use this nifty inexpensive tool. Following the instructions here you will see how easy it is to use and we are sure will find numerous ways of incorporating your twisted wire into your designs.

You will only need three items:

• pin vise (see tools)
• chain nose pliers (see tools)
• square or half round wire (will be stocking soon)

What wire you ask? You will need square or half round wire, round wont work. Soft or dead soft will be easier to twist than half hard which will require a bit more concentration to get an even look. You can use any type of wire, we are currently looking into square and half round wire in a variety of finishes.

This is really very simple, firstly pop on your safety glasses. Secure the end of your wire in your vise, then grasp the wire about 40mm along with your chain nose pliers. Twist the pin vise around while holding the chain nose pliers still and you will see your wire twisting. When you have enough of a twist open the pin vise and move your twisted wire through it (open the other end so it can move through freely), clamp the vise shut at the point where the twisted wire ends and the straight begins and repeat the process until you have the length of twisted wire you need.
