Making slider earrings.

With the release of our lovely new range of two hole connectors we thought we would offer a quick guide on how to incorporate them into earrings so you can create matching sets.

You will already have had to master the following skills to complete these earrings, if you are unsure please review past tutorials

  • crimping
  • opening and closing jump ring - earring loop

Though the slider has two holes we made three drops for balance to the design.

You can use any tiger tail but soft flex or soft touch will be much easier to work with due to its suppleness helping the drops to hang better.

We used micro crimps (1 x1 mm) that are available in sterling and gold filled plus 0.014 diameter soft flex tigertail. The round beads are cubic zirconia, the bicones Swarovski and the seed beads Matsuno.

You can see in the close up how easy these earrings are to assemble.
First loop a longer piece of tiger tail through all four holes, coming up from one end and down through the other. Don’t forget to pop your crimps on the tiger tail ready for crimping in between the holes on the same sides, This will prevent your tiger tail from moving. Even the tiger tail up and crimp against the top holes.

Then using a single piece of tiger tail loop over the larger tiger tail where it passes from one side of the connector to the other, crimp this in place and tidy up the spare tail. Now it is time to bead away and when you are ready simply crimp the bottom of each of the three dangles with a micro crimp to hold the beads in place. Don’t crimp too tight as your dangle won’t sit nicely, leave just a little bit of room. Now simply attach your earring loop or jump ring to the cross over tiger tail at the top and your done.

Here we have our choker that we made the earrings to match. While it would have been more true to design rules to make the dangles in an odd number, say five, we chose to stick with the four due to the limiting factors of the connector and hey, we think it works anyway!
