Home> Catalogue> Freshwater pearls>

Freshwater pearls are cultured pearls that are grown in freshwater mollusks in lakes and rivers. They provide an affordable alternative to their salt water oyster pearl cousins. Freshwater pearls generally are elongated in shape and have a milky translucent appearance. In China, shape and lustre are rapidly improving and round freshwater pearls are readily available.
Each batch of freshwater pearls is dyed for us preventing the restocking of exact colours and shapes, we recommend you order enough pearls to meet your needs as certain colours are extremely popular and do not remain in stock for long. It does take some time to reorder pearls due to the manufacturing process.

Tip: Pop your pearls on last before departing to prevent chemical damage to their nacre through perfumes and makeup. It is advisable to wear pearls from time to time or to give them a drink of water to maintain their lustre. Be aware that a pearls surface can scratch easily so treat them tenderly.
